Movie Review : While much of the film is predictable (except for a couple of surprises) and and almost certainly implausible, the movie was enjoyable because of the camradarie between the characters and the theme of redemption. How often does someone get a second chance and then also make good on it? The sets and special effects were very convincing and Eastwood seems to be good at both the artistic and technical aspects of directing. There's great chemistry between the stars as well. All in all, a very enjoyable movie, 8/10.

Movie Review : I will give you some tips on how to enjoy it: 1-use an age-reversing machine so that you are 12 years old. 2-then get a partial lobotomy. 3-watch the 10 minutes trailer and skip the movie. See! That was great fun! Except from that, expect an unhappy combination of Superman, Terminator, and Twilight. And by that I only mean the subject of the movie. The characters were absolutely shallow. Acting was decent, but the script was trash. I mean, forget clichés, I was prepared for those; forget plot-holes, I mastered my temper and numbed my mind with Tibetan meditation techniques. But there was OH so much STUPID that my mouth felt a metallic taste, and my eyes were bleeding, while I was petrified in my chair, my life slowly being sucked out of my body minute by minute.

Movie Review :

OK, this movie probably isn't a 1 out of 10, but when you remake a movie as memorable as the original Robocop, you'd better do something interesting. They didn't.

No, I didn't watch the original first, I watched it afterwards and that is the problem. You watch Robocop 2014 and think "Meh, pretty entertaining" and then you watch the original and get taken on a roller coaster ride.

I'm not going to re-hash the original movie here, it would be a waste of effort. Just do yourself a favour and don't waste your time on Robo 2014, search out the original Robocop. You won't be disappointed. The flick isn't nearly as dated as you would expect aside from the clothes and the vehicles. The humour is dark, dirty and noir at its best. Detroit looks nasty - the way anyone who has never been to 2014 Detroit would expect it to look. The criminals are drugged out wackos - the type of criminals you expect to see in 2014. The cops are cannon fodder

save their own skins. Clearly Paul Verhoeven didn't understand the magnitude of the police state that America would become - google the number of American's in prison if you doubt me.

Really simple here, folks - watch Robocop 1987, not this generic crap.

Hollywood, you would have made more money re-releasing the original.

Movie Review : When I look at Jan De Bont's resumé, I think of all the brilliant Dutch projects he has worked upon, and then I think of the films he has directed in America. The gulf between the two is such that even the less discerning can't help but be amazed. This is, after all, the guy who worked alongside one of Holland's favourite sons, the legendary Paul Verhoeven, on such indisputable triumphs as Turks Fruit or Flesh + Blood. To call directing such dreck as Speed or Tomb Raider 2 a comedown is a form of flattery.

Lara Croft, Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life, also proves one of a certain critic's rules regarding appreciating film based on their titles. The rule basically states that the longer the title is, the worse the film will be. Just as RoboCop, clocking in at a mere seven characters, is one of the greatest films the American film industry has ever been blessed with, Tomb Raider 2's full title clocks in at a whopping forty-two. Believe me, the quality level indicated by this under the aforementioned rule is very much in force here.

A classic example of this film's idiocy is when Lara, bleeding from one leg and stranded outside an underwater crypt, punches a shark in the face before riding on his back and finding a quiet place to sleep out on the ocean for an unspecified period. I'm no expert on sharks, but I would have thought that the impediment to motion that being under several hundred feet of water poses would make a punch in the face feel to a shark what a light poke in the nose would feel to us under normal circumstances. Not to mention the fact that, after lying out in such a large body of water for so long with an open wound, at least another shark is bound to come along sooner or later.

One area where Jan deserves credit is that I've never seen him resort to the use of shaky-cam. Thankfully, directors of European origin saw right through the party line that this puts the audience into the action, and realized that it does nothing of the kind. As a result, while many shots are too close for comfort during action sequences, they are at least stable enough that one can make sense of the actors' motions. The fight scene choreography is of such a quality that it doesn't need to be hidden from the audience.

Angelina Jolie seems to have a lock on strong woman characters that are so generic she can portray them all alike, yet she does this template so well that at least this audience member fails to notice. The problem here is that every character in this film is so generic that you cannot help but notice. Jolie's acting is never that brilliant, but she looks like Anna Paquin next to Gerard Butler. Noah Taylor is another classic example of a reason why I am not surprised that Australian entertainers rarely manage to get out of the isolation tank that is Australia. Seriously, this guy could be reading a description of Angelina's naked body and bore the hell out of me.

I gave Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life a two out of ten. Don't mistake this to mean that it is necessarily better than the films I gave a one out of ten. When I give something a two out of ten, that means its mediocrity makes it seem like a deliberate waste of a good hundred million. Aside from Angelina Jolie in skin-tight lycra and a clever twist ending, there ain't nothing to see here, folks.

Movie Review : This movie cost 150 million to make and that was obvious.

I Loved the whole movie the last third I was completely caught up in it! Hugh Jackman was outstanding as well as the rest of the cast.

It's Very entertaining....isn't that why you go to see a movie! The people saying negative things about this movie are like people who design roll coasters...and claim it was not good enough after they rode it!!!

Anyone else...a normal person who is relaxing and trying to enjoy the ride will be COMPLETELY HAPPY!

It seems a lot of people posting on here are strictly all about spouting their knowledge of comics....

Please...Your Not the person who wrote this....lighten up....your a nobody trying to be a somebody by attacking this movie!

Movie Review :

The premise of this film that the main character (played by Cate Blanchett) is a rancher and doctor living in the wilds of New Mexico. Her daughter is kidnapped by a group of outlaws led by a psychopathic witch doctor. At the same time, her estanged father (played by Tommy Lee Jones) enters her life, and she is faced with her deep hatred of him, weighed against her need for his help. The rest of the story I won't give away.

I've read whisperings of Oscar nominations, which may be a fair statement, but although these rumors have been directed towards Blanchett, I would say that Jones had the stronger performance. Blanchett was excellent as well though, depicting a hard-laboring no-nonsense rancher perfectly, not trying to inject any glamour into her role whatsoever, as might have been the case if certain other big name actresses had played the role. I am forever amazed by Blanchett's versatility! The girls playing the daughters were excellent

too, specially the youngest one, who had a number of intense emotional scenes.

I liked the bleak feeling presented in the film...the raw climate, the hopelessness combined with determination that the characters portrayed. The heroic rescue attempts were not without their screw-ups, making the story much more realistic than a typical Western shoot-em-up hero movie.

I also enjoyed the element of mysticism, which was pulled off without being too corny. The main villain in this film was quite possibly the creepiest, ugliest villain to grace the screen in years! Yet somehow it wasn't too trite either.

My personal beef with most Hollywood epics is that friggin' annoying sweeping soundtrack music, which practically spells out to you how you are supposed to feel, replacing the emotion that should have been created by the acting and directing. Thankfully, the soundtrack didn't overwhem this film. Just some well placed ambient music which supplemented the scenes nicely.

Definitely one of the better films I've seen lately. I rate it 8/10.

Movie Review : When I realized about 10 minutes into the film that I had paid to see a crocodile movie and not one about a serial killer as advertised, I was mad as h*ll!. For the first time I was about to demand my money back. However, I gave the movie a chance. I did end up enjoying it, but not enough to forgive being duped into paying the price. It is a pretty fun movie, but it's the same thing we've seen before on Sci-Fi Channel for a fraction of the price. To the distributors credit, they knew what they were doing. No one wants to pay to see a run-of-the-mill crocodile movie when they can see an giant reptile, insect, or animal/human hybrid film on cable each weekend. I love "Lake Placid", but if I knew this movie was about a croc I would not have gone to see it. It was a fun film, so if you want to pay to see Sci-Fi fare, you'll enjoy it.
